In 2016, England was touring Bangladesh. In one of the one-day matches, Tamim Iqbal altercated with English players which almost lead to physical interaction. I was watching the match on TV. As Bangladesh improve their game, Bangladeshi players become more aggressive as well - that’s my view. This aggressiveness is praised by most of the Bangladeshi fan, they appreciate it.

Same thing you will see with Virat Kohli and some other Indian player - on the field they are aggressive, most of the time, too much. But pointing out Bangladesh and India would not be fair. In my view, except New Zeland, almost of the other test playing countries show this trait from time to time. Things do not end here. Most Cricket players also cheat. And Australia takes it to another level.

All these behaviour would have been fine, except the game is Cricket. It is often argued that Cricket is the greatest sports of all time. And I believe this. Cricket, specially Test Cricket is truly different than any other game. It is also often said that it is the game of the kings. Not that only kings play this game, but you have to act like a king to play cricket. It was also claimed that “a nation is not civilized until it plays cricket”.

Not only that. The laws of Cricket starts with a Preamble called Spirit of Cricket. Basically it is now hardcoded in the Laws of Cricket that you must also keep up the spirit of Cricket.

Thus, whatever these cricketers are doing, they are not following the law or the spirit of Cricket. By supporting their behaviour, the fans are also not helping. Apparently, to most fans and players, Cricket is just another sports. They either do not know that Cricket has (or claim to have) a special place or they do not care. And that’s a shame.
