Before D Day, when the troops were waiting to board the ships to invade the coast of France, Eisenhower, Supreme Commander of the Allied Expeditionary Force (SCAEF) in the European theatre, asked a soldier, if he was afraid. The answer was positive. Eisenhower replied in the following manner:

Well, you’d be a damn fool not to be. But the trick is to keep moving. If you stop, if you start thinking, you lose your focus. You lose your concentration. You will be a casualty. The idea, the perfect idea, is to keep moving.

If you read New York Times and Washington Post and some other US news outlets regularly, you will find that sometimes these newspapers will publish news based on anonymous sources from the intelligence community of the US. In my view, they do this a lot, specially WaPo and NYT. Seems like these two newspaper has very good sources in the heart of the US Government.

But when you remember the Iraq war and the role played by NYT in that war, you may want to take a pause and think twice before reading those news and accepting the news on the face of it. NYT admitted this and kinda say sorry. The reality is, US officials do selectively leak certain intelligence to the newspaper to shape the domestic policy and politics (please see below).

I use Uber a lot. Since I do not have a car of my own, it is my most preferable mode of transport. In most days, I usually take Uber two rides, sometimes more. For me, the hardest part is rating the drivers once the journey is completed. Let me explain.

By asking me to review the performance of a driver with whom I spend less than adequate time, I believe Uber is asking me a lot. Specially when you consider the fact that your rating could have a financial impact on the livelihood of the drivers.

Sakib Al Hasan has been banned from Cricket by ICC for two years (one of these two years is suspended i.e. he will be able to play after year). He was accused of not informing an approach by the bookies. Apparently, there were several discussions between the bookies and Sakib, but he never notifies ACU of ICC. Sakib admitted his part and thus the punishment.

Now, there is a big discussion going on about Sakib’s act. Some say it is a conspiracy, some say it his fault. Some are steadfastly blaming Sakib by claiming that he is not an honest person. If you ask me, I would say the ban is justified. Sakib not only failed to report the correspondence with the bookies, but he also deleted some of the chats with the bookies. Why he did that?

You probably already know the news, or you should know the news. China’s communist government is oppressing the Uighurs, the minority Muslims in the Xinjiang region, for a while now. the Chinese government has surveilled these minorities for a long time, then they were forced to register biometrically. Then the Chinese government forced them to go into a re-education camp which is basically an internment camp. Then we heard that the Muslim were forced to eat in the month of Ramadan. Now mosques in that region are disappearing.
